Lennox furnace cost: Installed Budget and Cost Factors
Lennox furnace cost requires a full model and written installed scope. Manufacturer price symbols are relative labels, not dollar quotes. Compare equipment, controls, labor and required work without assigning an unsupported price to a series name.

Lennox furnace cost depends on the model and the work your home needs. The product page's price label is relative. It is not a quote for your job. Compare the quoted capacity, heat stages and blower type, plus controls and site changes first. Then total the written amounts without filling missing costs with guesses.
For a useful Lennox budget, name the full model and define the install scope. The EL297V is a stated two-stage, variable-speed candidate; it is not a price stand-in for all Lennox furnaces. Separate unit, controls and labor unless they are already bundled. Check the current warranty certificate and keep unpriced work visible. The calculator adds amounts rather than choosing a model or promising savings.
Published Lennox planning range
HomeGuide's Lennox guide publishes $3,000 to $9,500 installed. We checked its record October 14, 2026. The band spans different Lennox models and jobs. It is not an EL297V quote. Ask the dealer to price the actual unit, controls and site work together before comparing totals.
| Price evidence | Amount or state | Scope limit |
|---|---|---|
| HomeGuide brand guide | $3,000 to $9,500 installed | Broad model and job range |
| Named full-model dealer bid | Not yet known | Actual model and capacity plus site work required |

Lennox furnace cost: equipment versus installed budget
The EL297V product page shows a relative price symbol. It gives no price for your home. We do not convert that symbol into a unit or install amount. The brand-wide guide range is not a model-specific installed price. A dealer must quote the actual matched project.
| Cost field | Evidence to use | Check before comparing |
|---|---|---|
| Furnace equipment | Full model and written amount | Capacity, orientation and included accessories |
| Controls | Named thermostat and scope | Whether it is already in the equipment package |
| Installation | Separate amount or installed bundle | Whether equipment is included |
| Extra work | Itemized duct, vent, drain and electrical scope | Included, priced extra or unknown |

A dealer may quote one completed package without breaking out unit and labor. That can still be compared with another equal-scope package. Use bundle mode in the furnace replacement cost calculator. Do not add a separate unit figure to the same installed price.
There is no defensible brand premium to add as a fixed percentage here. Dealers can quote different work as well as different equipment. If one bid costs more, ask why. Check the furnace and control first.
Then check cabinet work, service terms and job scope. Only then can you judge whether the difference buys something useful for your project.
Capacity and Lennox model families
Lennox's furnace catalog has models with different heat stages. Their ratings differ too. Signature, Elite and Merit are broad family labels. They do not state a building's heating need or set the price of a specific unit.
For example, the SL280V is a two-stage, variable-speed family with an 80% AFUE rating. The EL297V uses a different efficiency class. The example shows why a series or brand name cannot replace a full specification in a price comparison.
Ask for the full model, cabinet orientation and quoted capacity. Keep input and delivered output separate. Have the proposal refer to a heating-load calculation. ACCA Manual J addresses the building load, while the final model selection must also address airflow and fit. An old nameplate or floor area alone does not settle the new capacity.
AFUE and controls
The EL297V family page lists up to 97% AFUE, two-stage heat and a variable-speed blower. That is a family ceiling. It is not the exact rating for every size and position. Ask for the full variant's record.
Check which rating the bid uses.
AFUE rates how much fuel becomes heat over a year. It uses a set test method. It is not a household savings guarantee. Fuel rates and heat use affect the bill.
The gap between two ratings is not a dollar saving. It cannot tell you when an upgrade would pay for itself. No such amount is added to this budget.
Controls deserve their own field in the proposal. Ask which thermostat is included. Check the features it supports. Ask what setup work is needed.
Do not assume the current thermostat can use every feature of the new unit. Do not assume it must be replaced either; let the stated system scope answer that question.
When comparing two-stage candidates, keep heat stages separate from airflow control. Two-stage heat refers to firing levels. Variable-speed refers to the blower. A different blower may still suit the same heat load.
Its airflow control may differ. Decide whether that difference matters to your planned system before treating it as a price issue.
Published warranty terms
Use Lennox's warranty guidance and the supplied model's certificate. Cover depends on the product and its terms. Registering the unit can change the cover you receive. Keep the applicable date, ownership terms and full unit code with the proposal.
Ask the dealer to separate covered parts from service labor. A parts benefit is not a statement that diagnostics, travel or every repair expense is covered. The installer's own workmanship terms may be another agreement. Record who provides each benefit, what it covers, and what you would pay when a service visit occurs.
Do not apply a Signature model's warranty to an Elite model. A sales summary can leave out terms. A family page can do so too. Ask for the exact certificate and any separately priced service option before using warranty length to choose between bids. A longer term does not prove that a unit fails less often.
Installation extras
Before you compare the installed totals, check venting, drainage, duct transitions, controls, fuel supply, electrical connections, removal and access. Ask which work has been inspected and which is merely assumed. The bid should name included tasks. It should price extras and list what is still unknown.
DOE's direct-vent unit explanation is useful context when the new model changes the air or exhaust arrangement. It does not provide a budget or permission to reuse an existing vent. Keep install decisions with the model instructions and site assessment. This guide gives no combustion-work steps.
A hard-to-reach cabinet can change the job cost. That is true even with the same unit. Ask how the unit will fit and what access work is priced. If a new drain, vent route or duct section is needed, have that work named. An omission should remain unknown on your worksheet until the issuer confirms it.
Compare itemized quotes
Set up one worksheet for each complete proposal. Enter low and high amounts only where they are stated. A fixed quote can use the same figure at both ends. If a needed item has no price, list it as unpriced.
A partial subtotal should not be compared as though it were a completed package.
For a furnace-plus-AC replacement, ask for the exact cooling components too. Mark cooling included only when the installed bundle covers it. If it is separate, add the extra matched cooling scope once. Do not guess a shared-labor reduction or assume the furnace and cooling bids include the same indoor work.
Use our Carrier furnace cost guide to compare another two-stage candidate. Return to the furnace brands comparison for the five-family shortlist. Compare fit and stated work. A price ranking needs like-for-like data.
FAQ
What does the maker price symbol mean?
It is a relative label on the product page, not a dollar quote for unit or install. It cannot tell you the cost of the work your home needs. Get the full model and written scope from the quote issuer. Then compare it with another proposal that covers the same job.
Can I keep my existing controls?
It depends on the furnace and the features you want to use. Ask the installer to name the control and describe the supported setup. If a new control is needed, make its price and install part of the scope. This guide does not assume either reuse or replacement.
Does the brand range quote an EL297V project?
No. HomeGuide's published brand range covers different models and jobs. It is useful planning context, not a bid for the EL297V or your house. Obtain equal-scope dealer bids for the full model and site work. The calculator can add their amounts while keeping missing costs visible.
Verdict on Lennox furnace cost
Treat Lennox furnace cost as a full-model and full-scope comparison. Keep controls, warranty terms and needed site work beside the installed total. Sources checked October 14, 2026. Read our methodology for the evidence limits, or use contact to submit a factual correction with a supporting source.
